Acupuncture for IVF in Los Angeles

A calm, supportive space through every stage of your cycle, coordinated with your reproductive endocrinologist, never instead of that care.

IVF asks a lot of you. I have sat with patients through every stage of it, the monitoring appointments, the medications, the two week wait, and I know how much it takes physically, emotionally, and financially. When patients come to me during a cycle, they are usually looking for one thing above all else: a place to feel supported while everything else feels so out of their hands. That is what I try to give them.

I am a doctor of acupuncture and a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine, and fertility work is a large part of my practice. Everything I do here is designed to work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist. I never ask a patient to question or change her medical protocol, and I would not want to.

How I Work Acupuncture Into an IVF Cycle

IVF moves through a careful sequence: stimulation, monitoring, retrieval, fertilization, transfer, sometimes a frozen cycle down the road. Each stage asks something different of your body and your nerves. I use acupuncture as supportive care across all of it, aiming to help you feel calmer and more comfortable while your medical team runs the clinical side of things.

Some patients start with me weeks before their cycle even begins, wanting to walk in feeling as settled as possible. Others come during stimulation, when appointments are frequent and the body is working hard. Many schedule sessions around transfer. And plenty of women simply come because IVF is exhausting and they need somewhere quiet. There is no single right schedule. I build it around where you are and what you need that week.

What a Session Actually Feels Like

If you have never had acupuncture, it helps to know what you are walking into, because the calm of it is part of the point. We talk about how you are feeling and where you are in your cycle, then you rest while I place very fine needles. Most people find it deeply relaxing. Plenty fall asleep on the table. For someone in the thick of an IVF cycle, that hour of stillness can matter more than people expect.

Why Patients Choose This

The reason I hear most often is simply that IVF is stressful, and patients want a space that feels entirely theirs. My sessions are quiet and unhurried, which can be a real counterweight to the clinical pace of fertility treatment, where you can start to feel like one more chart in a busy schedule.

I want to be honest with you. Acupuncture does not guarantee a particular IVF outcome, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling what any supportive therapy can do. What I can offer is real support, real comfort, and the feeling of doing something proactive for yourself in a process that otherwise leaves you waiting on results you cannot control.

Timing Around Embryo Transfer

One question I get constantly is about timing acupuncture around transfer. Many patients like to schedule a session close to their transfer date, which has a long tradition in fertility acupuncture and that a lot of women find reassuring. I always coordinate this around your clinic's own protocol and your individual cycle, and if your clinic has specific guidance, I work within it.

The Emotional Weight Nobody Warns You About

People underestimate the emotional side of IVF until they are living it. The two week wait, the news that does or does not come, the way a cycle can take over your thinking: it wears on you, and it can strain sleep and relationships too. I try to be a steady point of calm through those swings. If you are struggling significantly with anxiety or low mood during treatment, please also reach out to your medical team or a therapist. You deserve full support, and I am one part of that, not the whole of it.

Working With Your Clinic

Good fertility care is a team effort. I see my role as one supportive piece of a picture your reproductive endocrinologist leads. Keeping your clinic informed about the acupuncture you are doing is always a good idea, and I am always glad to communicate directly if that would help.

Come In and Talk With Me

If you are going through IVF and want to feel more supported through it, I would love to talk with you about whether this is a good fit for your situation. Whatever your cycle brings, you deserve to feel cared for along the way.
