Acupuncture for Male Fertility in Los Angeles
Acupuncture for male fertility in Los Angeles, for men whose semen analysis came back with something to fix. Treatment targets sperm count, motility, and morphology over the 72 to 90 days it takes to produce a new cycle of sperm.
Dr. Jeiran Lashai holds the FABORM reproductive credential and coordinates directly with your urologist or your partner’s fertility clinic.
The 90-day sperm cycle.
Sperm take roughly 72 to 90 days to develop. What shows up on today’s semen analysis reflects what your body was doing three months ago, which is why a single bad result is not a verdict, and why treatment needs that long to show up on the next test.
We plan a course of treatment against that window, then retest.
What the research shows.
Studies have found acupuncture improves sperm concentration, motility, and morphology, with the strongest findings in men with varicocele-related infertility. The National Institutes of Health summarizes the evidence and mechanism behind acupuncture in more detail.
The research is promising, though still limited. Any practitioner who promises a specific result is overstating what the evidence supports.
What we treat.
Most men come in after a semen analysis flags one of these:
- Low sperm count
- Poor motility
- Abnormal morphology
- High DNA fragmentation
- Varicocele-related changes
- Unexplained male-factor infertility
We will coordinate with your urologist.
Male-factor treatment usually involves a urologist, and often a reproductive endocrinologist working with your partner. We read your labs, work around your medications, and coordinate with both.
If your partner is doing IVF or IUI, we can treat you both. See our fertility and IVF acupuncture.
